Wal-Mart Demands CD Price Cut

March 27th, 2008 by Richie

wal-mart-image.jpg

From Rolling Stone click here for story. Looks like Wally World wants the record lables to cut down on thier prices or otherwise they will stop selling cds. At the moment they (Wal-Mart) are the nations number one music retailer while Itunes is holding the number two spot. In 2007 music sales went down 15%  and so far this year another 12% decrease. It may not look like a lot to you, but in the biz it’s millions of dollars gone. If the lables decide to cut thier prices and trust me they will, that means another 1,000 jobs will be lost.

Sad to say, but I really do miss the good old days of just going into a music store, getting want you want, paying for it, listening to what you bought and call it day. *sigh*

If you cannot decide which satellite radio provider to pick, why not pick both?

March 24th, 2008 by Phil

I have been a subscriber of Sirius Satellite Radio for 3 1/2 years now, and personally, I love it. My choice between Sirius and XM was basically made for me since the radio in my car came capable of receiving Sirius. Even when I compared the two later, I felt I had ended up with the right one. From what I could tell, both had the same basic selection when it came to music genre specific stations. For sports, both the NFL and the NBA chose Sirius leaving MLB and NHL for XM. Also, where XM became the first mover in satellite radio, Sirius went after more name talent. XM remained bigger, but Sirius was fast in catching up.

Recently, though, I have seen additional features associated with XM Satellite Radio, such as updates to GPS devices showing traffic conditions and weather. I thought these were very useful, and I saw no indication from Sirius to add the same type of features. I started wondering if I would consider changing for some of these new features, or if I would remain with Sirius if this question ever came up.

Well, it appears my decision has once again been made for me, this time without the situation even presenting itself. It has just been announced today that the Justice Department has approved Sirius’s $5 million buyout of XM. This has been under review for over a year now. This does not mean it will happen. The FCC still has to make their decision, but this is a big step towards the two becoming one. There is still no indication of what this means for the consumer. For that, we will just have to wait and see.

Who would you rather see?

March 22nd, 2008 by Richie

The rules are really simple.

1. Both bands have to be playing the same night, in the same city.. Final performance of this bands career.. after the show they would split up, never to get back together..

2. The band can be from any place in time and history.. (Living or dead)

3. Be specific.. Example.. if you wanted to use Skid Row you would have to say Skid Row with or without Sebastian Bach.

The Ramones  (Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy)or The Sex Pistols (with the orginal bass player Glen Matlock)

For me it would have to be The Sex Pistols-why you ask? They had the dirty rotten nasty discusting side to them which made them f’n fantastic! They had a great 3 chord sound, great drums, and a voice that my own mom would bitch slap me for listening to them! Great band I need to see them in my life time soon!

Peace, Love and Beer,

Richie Rich

Divorce ending at $48.6 Million

March 19th, 2008 by Richie

heather-mills-2-legs.jpg

Who know that a beautiful woman like Heather Mills would turn out to be a huge bitch!! From www.pollstar.com

(Associated Press) Paul McCartney was ordered Monday to pay Heather Mills $48.6 million to settle their divorce. A document released by the Family Court said the judge awarded Mills a lump sum of $33 million plus the assets she currently holds worth $15.6 million. “I’m so, so happy with this,” Mills told reporters following the closed hearing.

The court also ruled that the couple’s 4-year-old daughter Beatrice should receive a “periodical payments order” of $70,000 per annum. On top of that, McCartney will pay for the child’s nanny and school fees. “I’m so glad it’s over,” Mills said at her impromptu news conference. “It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and my daughter’s future and that of all the charities that I obviously plan on helping and making a difference with - because you know it has been my life for 20 years,” she said.

McCartney left the court without making any statement. While pleased with the financial settlement, Mills intends to appeal to prevent publication of the details of the settlement for the couple’s daughter. McCartney, 65, and Mills, 40, went to court last month to decide on Mills’ share of his fortune, which had been estimated at as much as $1.6 billion. Judge Hugh Bennett, however, found that the total value of all of McCartney’s assets, including his business assets, was about $800 million.

Mills said the settlement vindicated her decision to fire her lawyers. The legal fees, she said, instead “could easily go to charity.” “Obviously the court do not want a litigant in person to do well, it’s against everything that they ever wish, so when they write the judgment up they’re never going to make it look in favor,” she said. “But all of you that have researched know that it was always going to be a figure between 20 and 30 million (pounds), Paul was offering a lot less than that, which you’ll see in the judgment, and very much last minute to put me and Beatrice sadly through this … incredibly sad.”

Mills had sought almost $250 million, while McCartney had said she should receive $31.6 million, including her own assets, which the court assessed at $15.6 million. She had harsh words for McCartney’s lawyer, Fiona Shackleton, who was well known for representing Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana. “She has called me many, many names before even meeting me when I was in a wheelchair,” said Mills. The settlement has been a long time coming for the couple, who separated two years ago, after four years of marriage. At the time they said the parting was “amicable” and insisted “both of us still care about each other very much.” But the split has grown fractious since McCartney filed for divorce alleging his wife’s “unreasonable behavior.” Mills - a former model whose left leg was amputated below the knee after a motorcycle accident in 1993 - claimed McCartney had failed to protect her and their daughter from slander, death threats and other abuse, and accused the media of persecuting her. In November, Mills said she had been “treated worse than a murderer or a pedophile,” despite years of work for land mine victims and animal welfare charities.

McCartney met Mills in 1999, the year after the death from breast cancer of his first wife, Linda. That marriage was one of rock’s most enduring unions, and produced three children, including fashion designer Stella McCartney. Mills and McCartney married at an Irish castle in June 2002, amid rumors the former Beatle’s children disapproved of their new stepmother. The couple’s daughter was born the following year.

Who Would You Rather??

March 13th, 2008 by Jason

Richie Rich and I came up with this game, when boredom had set in one day at work. We talk daily thru instant messenger, while were supposed to be working.. So one day we came up with the game, and we thought it would be cool to bring to the website..

So here is an example, that provided hours of entertainment between myself and Richie Rich.. on those days at work, that just never seemed to end..

Example.. This is one I have actually used before

Stevie Ray Vaugh

Or

Jimi Henderix

Who would you rather see?

Get the idea?? Ok so today’s “Who would you rather see” for you the readers..

Pink Floyd (No Syd Barrett)

Or

Led Zeppelin (All Original Members)

Who would you rather see?
